Saniflo Unveils New Water Closet Bowl For its Saniplus and Sanibest Macerating Systems

EDISON, NEW JERSEY (NOVEMBER 12, 2008) — SFA Saniflo Inc. has introduced a new, more stylish round-front toilet bowl for its Saniplus and Sanibest macerating toilet systems in North America. The new fixture is meant to be coupled with the unique Saniflo macerating device to create an above-floor plumbing installation for applications in which conventional below-floor drainage is either impossible or cost-prohibitive. Made of vitreous china and available in white, the new fixture includes an integral P-trap and rear spigot outlet, rather than a bottom outlet found in a standard toilet. When the water closet is flushed, effluent is discharged by gravity through the rear spigot (arrow in photo above) into the Saniflo macerator that sits on the floor or inside a wall behind the fixture.

The macerator uses a fast-rotating cutting blade to liquefy human waste and toilet paper in the flush water, discharging it under pressure through a 3/4-inch copper or plastic line.

Carrying a one-year warranty, the wash-down-style toilet features a three-inch trapway, a six-inch by five-inch water spot, and a water-saving flush volume of 1.6 gallons per flush, as mandated by the Energy Policy Act of 1992. Measuring 32-inches high by 17-3/4 inches wide by 26-1/2 inches deep, the new fixture offers a comfortable seating height of approximately 17 inches, depending on the size of the toilet seat (purchased separately). The tank is insulated to prevent condensation.

Why maceration? Macerating technology is a cost-effective, easy-to-install solution for both residential and commercial bathroom applications. The Saniplus is designed for conventional residential applications, while the Sanibest is equipped with a special cutting blade made of hardened steel that can handle larger sanitary articles, as well as waste and toilet tissue. This makes it ideal for public restrooms in commercial and institutional settings. Both the Saniplus and the Sanibest can accommodate drainage from two other fixtures in a bathroom, such as a lavatory and a tub/shower.

“The Saniplus and the more heavy-duty Sanibest can be installed atop any finished floor,” says Saniflo president Regis Saragosti. “This critical feature permits the creation of a new bathroom wherever it is most convenient for home or building owner: in a basement, attic or garage; underneath stairs or inside a newly remodeled space.”

Gone is the need for costly excavation of the existing floor or building a raised floor to install a drain line, as required by systems using a sewage ejector. Walls and floors remain intact, and installation is accomplished quickly and economically with minimal disturbance to room layout. “A complete bathroom can be operational in as little time as a half-day,” adds Regis Saragosti.

The new round toilet bowl meets or exceeds ANSI/ASME A112.19.2 and CAN/CSA B45 requirements. It also has an IAPMO/UPC Certificate of Listing.

SFA SANIFLO INC. is the only manufacturer of its kind in North America, offering a complete line of macerating toilet systems and gray water pumping systems for residential and commercial applications. Saniflo markets through independent sales agents throughout North America, and the product line is currently available at distributor and dealer locations throughout the United States and Canada.
